Dutch government support 'circular' PV panel manufacturing

The Dutch cabinet announced today that it will allocate 2.6 billion euros ($2.84 billion) through the National Growth Fund to support innovative technology manufacturing in the fields of sustainability, energy, high technology, digitization and healthcare.
The government said it would invest a considerable part of it - 412 million euros - to support the manufacture of solar modules based on a circular economy approach.
"The sun plays a key role in the energy transition," the government said in a statement, without providing further details about the implementation of the plan. Boards are developed in a fully circular fashion."
The Netherlands currently has plans for a 3 GW solar cell factory in the MCPV consortium of nine companies.
The government has also allocated 296 million euros to support battery manufacturing, saying: "Large companies, SMEs, start-ups and educational institutions in the Netherlands are collaborating on research into circular battery technologies made from alternative and non-critical raw materials."
